I used to be the girl who stood off to the side, had one or two good friends and didn’t venture out and meet new people. Meeting new people and talking to strangers intimidated me. My sister was the popular, sociable one. Me, I just hung back, watched the crowd and did my own thing.

Being an author, I am now the social butterfly. I get to go out and promote my book, meet new people and I get to enjoy new experiences. It goes completely against who I used to be…but I have to admit, it’s fun. I am still terrified of speaking in public, but I do it anyway. I still say some of the dumbest things – but it’s okay. I’ve learned it truly doesn’t matter if you make a mistake and say something stupid. Your friends will laugh it off with you and you’ll have something to laugh about later.

Though I am happy and content in my little world, I am enjoying getting to know more of the world and the experiences that affords me.
